An insurer can rescind a long-term disability policy and refuse to honor a claim if the policy holder has not provided full and complete information in the application. This rule applies if the application is clear and capable of only one interpretation, if a sales agent has not made any modifications in the application, the purchaser had knowledge of the information requested and if the policy holder concealed requested information or critically misrepresented their history (such as not reporting a pre-existing medical condition).
