Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Disturbance in the functions of the intestine from unknown causes. It is also referred to as spastic colon or functional bowel syndrome. Symptoms generally include abdominal discomfort and an alteration in bowel activity. Many individuals also experience an inability to keep certain foods down and pain in their stomach and chest. Because their is no known cause of irritable bowel syndrome, doctors have a hard time treating patients with the condition. Although certain medications may help, some individuals find better results by not eating certain foods.
