Hip Replacement

Author: Webmaster / August 8, 2016 / Categories:

A surgical procedure where bone and cartilage from the hip joint is removed in order to replace it with an artificial prosthesis.
An individual usually needs a hip replacement in response to having damage to the hip joint, such as arthritis, infections or damage to the joint itself (typically from direct impact to the joint.) After having a hip replacement, individuals may be advised to forego certain physical activities (such as jogging or participating in sports) in order to prevent damage to the prosthesis.
