A treatment used to repair a broken bone. There are two types of reduction techniques, depending on the severity of the break:
- Open fracture reduction – Used to treat more serious fractures. The technique involves cutting open the skin to realign and secure the broken bones.
- Closed fracture reduction – Used for minor fractures. The bone is positioned into place and a splint or cast is then used to secure the bone in this new position while it heals naturally.
