Personal injuries don’t heal quickly and usually require some time taken off from work. Depending on the work you perform, that time off could be a week or two. It could also be a couple of months before you return to work, if at all. Some serious injuries might take you out of the job market entirely, or at least out of an industry. It is difficult to say what will happen. Sometimes the same injury can have very different effects on people. For example, someone working in an office might be out of work for a week before they can return because their job is not physically demanding. Someone working in a kitchen, however, will be out for longer because you can’t move around a kitchen in a leg cast. Not only does it hurt productivity, but you may also have legal aspects to worry about.

People also heal differently, taking into account varying aspects of their age, lifestyle, and overall health. For instance, a younger person tends to heal faster than an older person. A healthy, active person may be able to get back up more quickly compared to a person with a more sedentary lifestyle. These aspects may also factor into the chances of you getting injured and how severely. Anyone can get severely injured of course, but that doesn’t mean everyone has the same chance of it happening. Interestingly enough, someone who is active and healthy can also be at greater risk of injury. They are more active and get out more, meaning they have greater chances for injury to occur. It can be complicated trying to figure out what to do after being injured.

As we said before, injuries affect everyone differently. If you are one of the people that will miss months of work or need to change industries you are going to need a little help. Either with a way to replace the lost income, training to enter a new industry or both. If you are an entry level employee, then you likely won’t need training for another industry. If you have years of experience in an industry and earn a substantial income because of those years, then you may need training for another career with similar income potential. But, if you are not working now, where is the money for that training going to come from? The person or company that caused the injury may be liable for these forms of compensation. Either through their insurance or out of pocket. Some people or companies might try to find a way out of doing this, or their insurance company might try to as well. You need to make sure you take the right steps to prevent yourself from losing compensation that you are due.

Remember one very important point, do not agree to anything you don’t feel comfortable with or fully understand. You should also make sure you have evidence or documentation to back up any claims you make.  Pictures are a good example of evidence.  If you don’t know what to do after a car accident or injury, contact an attorney at Rue & Ziffra. They can help give you guidance and the steps on what to do next. Above all else, make sure you seek medical attention.  Your health and well being are the most important aspect.  Before speaking with an insurance company or giving any form of statement, speak with an attorney.  It is also a good idea to have the phone number handy. Even if you never have to use it, you will always know an Ormond Beach Personal Injury Attorney is just a few screen taps away at 386-788-7700.
